Lavender Vanilla Lotion with 200 mg CBD contains Vanilla Flavoring not Extract
The vanilla flavoring used in this lotion is derived from real vanilla beans with little to no alcohol (2-3%). The scent of flavoring is more pronounced than the scent of vanilla extract hence the reason we use vanilla flavoring in this lotion. Due to the concentration of vanilla in the flavoring it is more expensive than vanilla extract but certainly worth the additional expense.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration requires vanilla extract to contain a minimum of 35% alcohol and 100 g of vanilla beans per liter. A common recipe for making extract is to add three vanilla bean pods to 1 quart of 100 proof vodka in a one quart jar. The pods are 5 to 6 inches long so you will need to bend them to get them into the jar. They need to be cut lengthwise prior to placing them in the jar. Be sure they are completely covered with the alcohol. Cap the jar and place it in a cool dark site for 4 to 6 weeks.
This is the same procedure you want to follow when you make lavender extract. Vodka and lavender buds. Two cups vodka and 1/2 cup of lavender flowers. Be sure you use a culinary lavender such as Buena Vista or Folgate. If you mistakenly use Grosso or another non-culinary lavender you will end up with a very bitter extract.
