Himalayan salt has a complex taste, with hints of sulfur, calcium, potassium and magnesium which in turn makes it milder than the table salt. Himalayan salt has a distinct taste difference from Mesa Lavender Farms Mediterranean sea salt. Both offer a distinctively subtle and mild flavor with the various minerals present make them much richer than normal salt.
Pink Himalayan salt is said to have been discovered around 326 BC when troops of Alexander the Great stopped to rest there and noticed their horses licking the salty rocks. The first records of mining Pink Himalayan Salt are from the Janjua people in the 1200s.
