Mediterranean salt (sodium chloride) is from the Mediterranean Sea. While harvesting Mediterranean salt, the sea water is evaporated, leaving behind the Mediterranean salt.
We created Lavender Mediterranean Sea Salt but adding finely ground Folgate Culinary Lavender to salt from the Mediterranean Sea.
Mediterranean salt is more like coarse table salt and is white in color. This salt is however, ground to different levels of fineness. Mediterranean salt is rich with traces of fluoride, potassium, iodine and magnesium and thus, the sodium chloride content is comparatively less than regular table salt or our Lavender Pink Himalayan Salt.
Mediterranean sea salt almost never contains added minerals or chemicals as compared to regular table salt. Regular table salt often contains additives to keep it from clumping and extend its shelf life. Iodine is also often added to table salt.
