CBD for Pets and large animals
Tinctures – unflavored and designed with pets in mind
Mesa Lavender Farms, CBD for PETS Unflavored CBD Tinctures contains USDA organic MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil from coconuts as the carrier oil. MCT oil boosts metabolism and increases mental clarity. MCT may even benefit heart health, obesity prevention, and brain health. We do not use hemp oil in these formulations due to their potential for contamination with pesticide residues, heavy metals, and microbes. Mesa Lavender Farms CBD tinctures come in the one-ounce dropper bottle (600 mg of CBD) and a two-ounce dropper bottle (1200 mg of CBD).
Cannabidiol– CBD – is a cannabis compound with many benefits derived from Industrial Hemp. The distillate used in our full-spectrum CBD formulation contains a small amount of THC (0.06%). For more detail on benefits of CBD for pets, check out the blog at https://curtisswift.com/cbd-for-pets/.
Our 100% CBD only tincture contains no THC or other cannabinoid other than CBD. CBD is known to help relieve pain, it’s an anti-inflammatory, and it is also an anti-anxiety, thus the reason for formulating a product specifically for pets. Mesa Lavender Farms is dedicated to both our human and animal friends.
Each drop of CBD for Pets tincture provides 1 mg of CBD.
Research at the Veterinary Hospital at Colorado State University found 2 to 4 mg of CBD was the recommended dose for a 20 to 22-pound Beagle. Thus, Mesa Lavender Farms recommendation is 1 to 2 mg per 10 pounds of body weight. Dividing the recommended amount needed into several applications has been found to be more effective than taking the full dose all at one time. “Dogs are reported to have a higher number of cannabinoid receptors in the brain compared with humans.” This may be the reason dogs respond quicker and at a lower dosage to CBD than humans.
When in doubt on the dosage you should consult with your veterinarian.
Working the drops into the gums and tongue facilitates faster and more effective results. Some animals, however, do not react kindly when messing with your mouth, so adding the drops to their treats or food is an option. Due to what is called the “first pass” effect, the bioavailability of CBD when swallowed is much less than when absorbed by gums and under the tongue area.
Tinctures are best taken orally instead of being added to food. In addition to problems with the “first pass” effect, when swallowed, CBD can take several hours to move through the body to provide relief from arthritis and other ailments.
Large Animal CBD tincture (for animals 200 pounds and more
For larger animals such as large dogs, horses, donkeys, swine, zebra, etc., we recommend our Large Animal Tincture. This is available in 4-ounce wide mouth plastic bottles and comes with a dosage card and syringe. Apple and Peppermint flavoring is added to enhance their acceptance. Salve is for shallow Pain – CBD for pets and large animals
For pain in knees, shoulders, hocks, paws, etc. , Mesa Lavender farms recommends rubbing the tincture into the inflamed area. Some practitioners add Mesa Lavender Farms Pet tincture CBD to finely ground pink Himalayan salt and rubbing the afflicted area with this mixture. Some use sugar instead of salt.
Rubbing the area with Mesa Lavender Farms non-scented salve also helps with these issues. The unscented salve contains coconut oil, beeswax, Vitamin E oil, and CBD isolate. There is no THC in this salve.
