Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
Certificates of Analysis are important to the understanding of the quality of the CBD products you purchase. This testing, done by a third-party analytical laboratory, informs you of the concentration of each of the cannabinoids in the finished product.
Colorado has now implemented the requirement to test for microbes in any finished CBD product. Future testing will include this information on the COA for each product. More info on this testing is below.
Some companies have their own testing facility and can thus manipulate the data. Mesa lavender farms sends a sample of the finished product to a private certified lab for testing to avoid any possible appearance of impropriety. The Certificates of Analysis resulting are considered “official documents”.
In addition to testing our finished products, Mesa Lavender Farms send samples of the concentrates we use (full-spectrum and CBD isolate) to a third-party lab to confirm the concentrates we use are what the supplier’s documentation says it contains. It is not unusual to find a difference of 2 to 3 percent from what the distributor claims.
It is important for us to know the starting concentration of the products used to formulate our products so we can provide you, our customers, with salves, tinctures, lotions, and other products containing what the labels say they contain.
Certificates of Analysis: Potency
It normally takes at least a week once samples are sent to the lab to obtain the results of the COA. Those results are posted here to allow our customers to check the quality of the products themselves.
The State of Colorado now requires a bath number be placed on each CBD product produced. That batch number is affixed to the underside (bottom) of the product allowing you to locate the COA for that specific product. For example, if you have a Lavender Full spectrum tincture with a number on the bottom of the bottle, locate the lavender full spectrum tincture below and match the number on your product to the COA.
Many of our labels have a QR code. That code allows you to use your phone to go to our web site.
Only the most recent COAs are included here. For copies of earlier COAs contact Curtis@mesalavenderfarms.com with the batch number on the product.
Certificates of Analysis: Microbial Testing
Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment now requires tests for the human pathogens Salmonella, Shiga-toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC) Bacteria, coliforms, an aerobic plate count, and a test for yeast and mold for all CBD products. Click on the associated link for more info.
